By using this website, you are agreeing to be bound by the then-current version of these Terms of Use. The City of Hamilton (the “City”) reserves the right to change or modify the Terms of Use at any time without notice. The changed Terms of Use will be posted on the website, and you should read them before using the website.

This website is provided as a public resource of general information only by the City.
The City attempts to keep the information on this website current, accurate and complete but reliance upon any information, data, text, images, data, live or archived audio or video recordings, forms, and other communications on the website (the “Content”) shall be at your sole risk.

External Links and Websites

Links or references to other websites or organizations do not imply endorsement or approval by the City. External websites may have their own terms of use that you must follow. The City's Portal Privacy Agreement does not apply on external websites. If you gain access to external websites through links on this website, you do so at your own risk.

No Representations, Warranties or Liability

The City makes no representation, warranty or guarantee as to the content, accuracy or completeness of any of the Content provided on this website. The City explicitly disclaims any representations, warranties and guarantees, including, without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
The City assumes no responsibility for any damages arising out of the use of this website or Content including but not limited to damages arising from viruses or other technical problems. The City is not responsible for any special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages that may arise from the use of or the inability to use, the website and/or the Content whether the materials are provided by the City or by a third party. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the City assumes no responsibility whatsoever for:

Intellectual Property

The Content is provided by the City and/or its licensors and may be subject to the rights of third parties. Content is the property of or licensed to the City and is protected by intellectual property laws and regulations including without limitation those relating to copyrights, trade-marks, trade-names, internet domain names and other proprietary rights. The City grants you a personal non-exclusive license to read, download and print copies of the Content for non-commercial personal or private use or study and only if all copyright and ownership notices contained on the Content are retained and displayed together with the URL my.hamilton.ca or the URL displayed in connection with the Content. The City further grants you the right to use documents for their posted purpose (i.e. submission of an application on a posted form). If Content refers to another person's or organization's copyright, you must get written permission from the owner of that copyright before making use of that Content. You do not obtain any ownership rights to any of the Content and must obtain written permission from the City or other Content owners before making other use of the Content.

Collection and Disclosure

The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (“MFIPPA") applies to all information collected by the City. The information will only be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with MFIPPA. Please refer to the City's Portal Privacy Agreement for more information.

To use the website, you also agree to the following terms:

  2. You will not violate (or try to violate) the security of the website by hacking, cracking, mail bombing, mounting a denial of service attack, breaching of etiquette, or any other similar malicious, careless or negligent acts;

Governing Law

Use of this website is subject to the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein. Any court proceedings arising from use of the website will take place in Ontario.

Alternatives to Website Use

The City endeavours to provide you with multiple service channels for conducting City business including walk-in (please note that not all services are available at municipal service centres), mail-in and phone-in options. If at any time you have concerns about using the website to conduct your City business, please contact the City through another service channel.
